Our Heritage
Retelling, Restoring, Rediscovering...Relentlessly

Nearly 300 years ago, the fields of Kingswood became the birthplace of a movement that changed the world.
The very ground on which we meet - the Kingswood Estate - was purchased by John Wesley in 1739, and soon became the heart of the Evangelical Revival - a powerful move of God that brought hope and transformation across Britain and beyond.
The Evangelical Revival was marked by:
-
Retelling the story of the Bible with joyful confidence, sharing the good news of Jesus in a way that brought hope to people living in an increasingly hopeless world.
-
Restoring community through genuine fellowship, welcoming people into strong, caring groups where faith was lived out and developed through deep relationships and shared purpose.
-
Rediscovering a higher calling, inviting people to grow in character and embrace a life of integrity and purpose through the power of the Holy Spirit.
-
Renewing minds and hearts through the truth of the Bible, providing a clear and life-giving vision of the world.
-
Relentless compassion, expressing God’s love through practical care: education, healthcare, poverty relief, employment, leadership development, and Christian virtue.
We honour that heritage not by looking to go back to the past, but by longing and living for a great re-shaping of life in our own day. The same Lord who moved powerfully then still moves today. We long to see the gospel proclaimed with joyful confidence, communities restored by grace, minds renewed by truth, and compassion poured out in love.
Through our Journey into Freedom, we long to see lives, families, communities, and nations transformed by the good news of Jesus, through the faith, freedom, and flourishing found only in him.
