About Us

FCBweb - ABOUT US

What makes us Freedom Church Bristol?

The Welcome

We are a church family made up of all sorts of people - from newborns to 90 + year-olds - and we love it that way. Whether you’re full of faith, full of questions, or somewhere in between, you’ll find a genuinely warm welcome. We believe church should be a place of welcome, truth and transformation - where every person is valued, and no one walks alone.

The Lord

We believe the God who created us is not distant or disinterested, but closer than we often realise - personal, present, and perfectly good. He knows us better than we know ourselves and loves us more than we can imagine. He invites each of us into a relationship with him through Jesus - not just to believe in him, but to live life with him every day. At the heart of everything we do is this conviction: that true freedom is found in knowing God, and living the life he created us to live, in the power he alone provides.

The Bible

We believe the Bible is God’s inspired Word. Directing what we believe and the way we live, it is a unique book - full of truth, wisdom and power. It has shaped cultures, inspired reformers, and transformed lives for generations. In a time when its message is often overlooked, misunderstood, or dismissed, we’re rediscovering its life-giving truth and how to live it out in today’s world. Each week, we open the Bible together to hear God speak.

The Worship

Our Sunday gatherings are lively and informal. We sing contemporary worship songs that help us express our love for God and draw near to him together. Children stay with us for the start of the service, then head out to Freedom Kids - their own groups where they can learn and grow in a fun, safe, and nurturing environment. We open the Bible and hear a talk that connects its message with everyday life. After that, we finish with space to reflect and respond, and with more singing. Services start at 11:00 am and finish by 12:30 pm. Free refreshments are served from 10:40 am, and you’re warmly invited to come early, grab a drink, and say hello.

The Story

Freedom Church Bristol stands on holy ground. Nearly 300 years ago, the fields of Kingswood became the starting point of a world-changing movement. The very ground on which we meet was purchased by John Wesley, and soon became an epicentre of the Evangelical Revival - a powerful move of God that reshaped lives, communities and even nations. From here, the message of Jesus spread like wildfire across the UK and beyond, bringing freedom, purpose and hope to countless people. We honour that heritage not by seeking to live in the past, but by asking the Lord to do it again. We want to keep the story alive, fan the flames, and redig the wells - believing the same God who moved then still moves today.

The Vision

We long to see people set free, living free, and bringing freedom - through Jesus Christ. At the heart of our church is our Journey into Freedom: a pathway of lifelong discipleship that helps us follow Jesus step by step, and walk alongside others as they do the same. Our dream is bold but simple - to give each of the 10,000 people in Kingswood and beyond a meaningful opportunity to encounter the good news of Jesus, and to make a meaningful response.

The Invitation

Whoever you are, and wherever you're starting from - there’s a place here for you. Whether you're exploring faith, returning to church, or looking for a place to grow deeper, we’d love to welcome you to Freedom Church Bristol.

Come and take your next step with us on the Journey into Freedom!
